I don't think there's anything out there that's designed purposefully for the world of professional lighting at this kind of price point (happy to be proven wrong!). ![]() Budget is tight - could maybe stretch to £10 each at a push. That's going to be infrared isn't it!ĭoes anybody know of an RF - based remote control RGB light source that can form the basis of my hacking? The brighter the better. I've got some of this type arriving today from Amazon Īlthough on looking again now, I see the mention of remote control range being 3-5m. None of the adverts describe if they're RF or IR control. I could feasibly have a high power IR transmitter up in the roof that might just do the job, but it makes me a bit nervous, especially as I don't know what effect the surrounding paper lantern will have on them. Plan had been to have an arduino receiving DMX and then send out the relevant 433MHz commands to the LED's. I've got some arduino code that'll decode a 433MHz transmitter and then allow me to send those codes from the arduino with the relevant transmitter board (pence to buy). The big problem though is that they're infrared remote control rather than RF. They're a neat little unit though are proving a bit dim for my needs. I took delivery last night of some of these I can find lots of products that are self contained remote control RGB led sources. Whilst this works it's not going to make the treasurer happy as it's quite budget heavy. As usual I decided I could do better and came up with the code for a load of wifi-connected Wemos boards using artnet. Initial plan was just one of the dot-it style led lights sat in the bottom to light them up white. ![]() The dancers will carry a paper lantern that'll be illuminated from the inside. We're doing Aladdin and there's a lantern parade through the house. ![]() Very low budget solution needed for pantomime!
